The Barron Falls Walking Trail – A Virtual Tour.
We’ve heard over the grapevine about the “1,000’s” of steps and so on regarding the track but had NOT actually walked it due to my physical condition, until yesterday… some more background.
In March 2021 I had a hernia operation that they messed up, which has left me in pain and meant I haven’t been able to work ever since. It’s only the last few months that I’ve regained enough physical strength to be able to carry ‘Benny’ around for a couple of hours at a time and do what we have been doing… it’s been a long process and the Drs have already told me there is nothing more they can do except prescribe drugs…. Hence The Dogue House
Since I’ve been rattling on about the Barron Falls Walking Trail these past days I thought I’d better walk the walk and not just talk the talk, so off we went to explore.
Come along for a virtual tour of the Barron Falls Walking Trail with us…
Part 1 of 2
Unsure as to what to expect, or how the body would hold up, I had a friend drop me off at the Barron Falls end and walked back into town along the riverbank.
A little snapshot of our observations
The track itself is 2.1-2.3kms long (?), we’ve referred to it previously as the “Kinca Trail”…and we stand by that statement.
“Countless steps”, actually we counted 561 of them, “winding through the rainforest, over bridges, traversing gullies, up and down mountains, sorry, hills and crossing creeks”… we stand by that statement too.
It took us an hour to walk back to the Jungle Walk (other end of the track) at a steady to slower pace and another 30 mins to get back into town… we weren’t in a rush
We also counted 12 bridges along the way.
Nobody passed us on the track during the time we were on it.
No hand/safety rails on the many steep sets of stairs.
No rubbish bin at either end.
While parts of it meander through majestic strands of tress and some old Liana Vines, we have some more points to raise and questions to be answered…
It’s easy to see how $2,808,494 was spent, we still can’t understand why though….
